Job summary

Dallas County is seeking a Detention Facility Supervisor to oversee an assigned shift, ensuring safe and secure custody of detained youths and directing staff. The role trains, supervises and evaluates personnel, develops and enforces policies, and participates in budgeting and planning.

Requires Bachelor's degree and 3 years’ experience, including 1 year supervisory; must meet TJJD standards and pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of professional work experience, including one (1) year supervisory experience.
• Experience supervising staff in a correctional or youth services setting is preferred.
• Must have CPR/First Aid certification and Restraint Training certification.

Responsibilities

• Oversees a detention facility for an assigned shift and directs staff in providing comprehensive youth supervision.
• Identifies needs and recommends policy and procedure improvements to align with established protocol.
• Expedites handling of inter- and intra-departmental inquiries and investigations.
• Schedules staff, assignments and activities, and allocates space and equipment for a 24-hour operation.
• Compiles and analyzes data to make recommendations and assist in organizational planning.
• Responds to grievances, investigates issues, and makes recommendations based on findings.
• Acts as back-up to staff, performs duties such as administering medications, transporting youths, and processing intakes/discharges.
