Job summary

The State of North Carolina, Department of Public Safety, is seeking a Youth Counselor Technician (S) at the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Division in Tarboro, NC. This full-time role provides transportation and supervision for court-involved youth at youth development and detention centers near court proceedings.

You will work under the new step pay plan with yearly salary progression up to $55,317, and may qualify for a $3,000 sign-on bonus and a referral bonus.

Qualifications

• Minimum education and experience required as stated in E&E.
• Ability to communicate effectively in writing and speaking.
• Full-time schedule with weekend/holidays required.
• Must be able to physically restrain juveniles after training.

Responsibilities

• Provide transportation and supervision for juveniles to court hearings and other destinations.
• Inspect vehicles, perform preventative maintenance, and maintain trip documents.
• Monitor youth in custody and conduct vehicle searches.
