Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Public Safety is seeking Youth Counselor Technicians to directly supervise and engage court-involved youth in Youth Development Centers and Juvenile Detention Centers. Positions require direct contact, safety awareness, and daily documentation within a team-based environment.

Weekly shifts, weekend/holiday work, and a 10% shift premium on certain shifts are in place. A sign-on bonus of $3,000 is offered, with opportunities for advancement and comprehensive state

Qualifications

Bachelor or higher degree not required; minimum education is noted as Associate degree or equivalent with related experience.
Supplemental Questions are required in the application and will be used to assess eligibility.
Salary will be based on qualifications, internal equity, and budgetary considerations.

Responsibilities

Housekeeping, and safe, supportive supervision of youths.
Exercise appropriate safety measures including physical and mechanical restraint as needed.
Administer medications and supervise daily activities and recreation.
Maintain accurate records of safety, incidents, and youth progress.
Provide feedback to the treatment team and ensure a secure environment.
