Job summary

LifeWorks Austin is seeking a Counselor I to join our Community Based Counseling team. You will provide counseling to transition-aged youth 16-26 who have experienced trauma, often amid foster care or justice system involvement, in community settings across Travis County.

This full-time exempt position offers competitive pay and a robust benefits package including PTO, holidays, a premium-free medical plan with HSA, and a 50% retirement match.

Qualifications

• Requires a Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling or a related field.
• Holds initial licensure (e.g., LMSW, LPC-A, LMFT-A) or is able to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Requires 6+ months direct clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides community and office-based individual, couples, group and/or family services.
• Regularly assess and manage incidents and crisis situations, using de-escalation and safety planning techniques.
• Completing follow-ups with clients; provides referrals and maintains documentation per agency requirements.
• Collaborates with Lifeworks program staff and community agencies to provide wrap-around services.
• Provides community outreach as required by program and complies with licensure requirements.
