Job summary

The Children’s Home of Reading Youth & Family Services (CHOR YFS) is hiring a Part‑Time Youth Counselor for the Germantown, PA area. You will supervise residents in a structured residential program, provide mentoring, and support daily activities alongside a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates have a background in social/human services or two years of youth experience, a valid license, and a commitment to helping youth succeed. Paid training and career growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or two years of college in a social or human services field, OR
  • High school diploma with at least two years of youth work experience

Responsibilities

  • Supervise residents in a safe, structured environment and mentor youth.
  • Support individualized treatment plans and behavioral goals.
  • Maintain documentation and collaborate with clinical staff and team members.
  • Assist with school, recreation, appointments, and daily activities.
  • Attend required meetings and trainings.

What You'll Do

As a Youth Counselor, you'll provide supervision, mentoring, guidance, and support to youth in a structured residential treatment program. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you'll help create a safe, therapeutic environment where youth can grow and succeed.


Your responsibilities include:

Resident Care & Supervision



  • Supervise residents while maintaining a safe and structured environment.

  • Build trusting relationships through positive role modeling and mentorship.

  • Ensure the safety and security of residents and the facility.


Behavioral & Therapeutic Support



  • Supervise youth during school, recreation, appointments, community outings, and daily activities.

  • Support individualized treatment plans and behavioral goals.

  • Encourage positive decision‑making and independent living skills.

  • Maintain accurate Electronic Health Records (EHR) and required documentation.

  • Complete incident reports and resident progress notes.

  • Collaborate with clinical staff, case managers, and fellow team members.

  • Attend required meetings and trainings.

Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree or two years of college in a social or human services-related field OR

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) with at least two years of experience working with youth


Requirements



  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Valid driver's license required

  • Basic computer skills

  • Must successfully pass criminal background (including FBI) and child abuse clearances

  • Part‑Time

  • Must be available to work 3rd shift (10pm-6am), including weekends
