Job summary

The Children's Home of Reading Youth & Family Services is seeking a Youth Counselor to supervise and mentor adolescent males in a residential program in Breinigsville, PA. You will work on a multidisciplinary team to create a safe, therapeutic environment and support youth toward their behavioral goals.

Youth Counselors provide daily supervision, build trusting relationships, document progress in EHR, and participate in training to follow program policies while promoting growth and independence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in a human services field, or high school diploma with 2+ years of youth experience.
• Must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver's license.
• Must complete criminal background (including FBI) and child abuse clearances.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily supervision, mentoring, and guidance to residents.
• Build trusting relationships through effective communication and positive role modeling.
• Maintain safety and security of residents and the facility.
• Supervise residents during school, recreation, and daily activities.
• Document resident progress toward treatment goals and maintain EHR records.
• Participate in training and follow program policies and procedures.

What You'll Do

The Youth Counselor provides supervision, mentoring, guidance, and support to adolescent males living in a residential treatment program. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll help create a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment that promotes growth and success.

Your responsibilities may include:

Resident Care & Supervision

Provide daily supervision, mentoring, and guidance to residents.

Build trusting and supportive relationships through effective communication and positive role modeling.

Maintain the safety and security of residents and the facility.

Behavioral & Therapeutic Support

Supervise residents during school, recreation, community outings, and daily activities.

Collaborate with clinical staff and case managers to develop behavioral goals.

Encourage positive decision-making and independent living skills.

Maintain accurate Electronic Health Records (EHR) and behavioral documentation.

Record resident progress toward treatment goals.

Participate in training and follow structured program policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in a human services-related field; or

High school diploma (or equivalent) with at least two years of experience working with youth.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Valid driver's license required.

Must successfully complete criminal background (including FBI) and child abuse clearances.

Basic computer skills required.
