Job summary

Distinction LLC in Saint Louis, Missouri is seeking a Cook to prepare Center meals in accordance with pre-planned menus and in compliance with government directives. This role supports at-promise youth by providing nutritious meals in a clean, safe kitchen.

You will supervise cook helpers and student interns, maintain inventory, and ensure all credentials and certifications are up to date. The position offers a competitive hourly wage between $18 and $19.40, with potential for growth.

Qualifications

• Experience working with youth and strong written/verbal communication skills.
• Computer proficiency required.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook the quantity of food required according to the menu and number of students.
• Instruct cook helpers and student interns in safe, hygienic food preparation methods.
• Maintain kitchen equipment in orderly, workable condition.
• Keep work area safe, clean, and sanitary at all times.
• Prepare food for special center functions as directed.
• Assist with cleaning kitchen work areas after each meal.
• Help maintain inventory, inventory controls, and perpetual tracking systems.
• Maintain required credentials and/or certifications of position.
