Job summary

Baltimore City Government seeks a Career Preparation Specialist to support Work-Based Learning within the Office of Secondary Success and Innovation. The role coordinates with City Schools, guides students, and partners with educators to ensure high-quality apprenticeships or internships.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of youth-facing experience, with strong communication, data management, and event coordination skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in a relevant field preferred.
• Two years of directly related experience working with young people.
• Equivalency allowed; demonstrated youth development understanding is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary contact for students and school-based teams for participation in work-based learning.
• Vet and match students to WBL opportunities based on Career Exploration Portfolios.
• Monitor work experiences for students in Apprenticeship and Internship courses.
• Prepare students for WBL opportunities with resume and interview coaching.
• Maintain student forms and documents in Google Drive and school systems.
• Organize student and parent engagement events related to WBL.
• Collect data and prepare reports for the Office of Secondary Success and Innovation.
• Collaborate with City Schools and external employer networks for events and tours.
