The Mayor and City Council of Baltimore is seeking Youth Interns for their Youth Opportunity (YO) Centers. Interns will support daily operations and participate in training to develop personal and professional skills.
This position is for Baltimore City residents aged 18 to 24, offering part-time or full-time opportunities depending on placement. Interns will gain valuable hands-on experience and preparation for long-term employment.
Through our Youth Opportunity (YO) Centers, MOED offers internship programs providing young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 with valuable hands‑on experience, educational and professional development, and mentorship opportunities in both public and private sector organizations throughout Baltimore City. The program’s goal is to help participants build career readiness skills, gain work experience, and prepare for long‑term employment and/or continued education to ensure their success.
Youth Interns will support daily operations within their assigned academic, business, or community service organization as per the program’s design. Under supervision, the intern will perform a variety of project‑based tasks designed to develop both personal and professional skills, along with workplace competencies. Interns will also participate in training sessions and workshops focused on career development, financial literacy, communication, and teamwork.
Part‑time or full‑time (depending on placement) typically 20–35 hours per week. Schedule determined by host site supervisor.
Background check: Eligible candidates under final consideration for appointment to positions identified as positions of trust will be required to complete authorization for a Criminal Background Check and/or Fingerprint screening, and must be successfully completed.
Probation: All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a 6‑MONTH mandatory probation.
Financial Disclosure: This position requires completion of a Financial Disclosure pursuant to Sections 7‑7, 7‑8, and 7‑9 of the City Ethics Law. The initial financial disclosure must be submitted within 30 days of hire.
