Job summary

Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) seeks a Youth Care Worker to provide trauma-informed residential care for unaccompanied children. You will create a safe, structured environment, support social and emotional well-being, and address daily needs with patience and respect.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team delivering education, medical, and therapeutic services, while adhering to safety policies and responding to behavioral needs as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents.
• Associates degree with at least one year of supervisory experience, highly preferred.
• Minimum age of 21 years or older.
• English/Spanish bilingual capabilities required.
• Must possess and maintain a current valid Driver’s License meeting company standards of insurability.
• Proficiency with computers, common office equipment, and MS Office products.
• Must be able to perform emergency behavioral intervention (EBI) for clients in care when necessary.
• Meet the requirements of the contract for all immunizations.
• Clean criminal background check.
• Clean child abuse and neglect or child protective services check.
• Ability to pass a medical examination to determine one’s fitness to satisfactorily and safely care of clients if accommodations are required.

Through our Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), CPLC provides culturally responsive, trauma‑informed, and strengths‑based services to refugees, unaccompanied children, and other eligible individuals and families.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?

You will help provide high‑quality, trauma‑informed residential care and support for unaccompanied children who have come to the United States without a parent or legal guardian.

You will create a safe, structured, and supportive environment where children can feel welcomed and cared for while they are in our program. You will support their social and emotional well‑being and help ensure their daily needs are met with patience, consistency, and respect.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing educational, recreational, medical, therapeutic, and other supportive services designed to address the unique needs and experiences of each child.

You will also help maintain a safe environment by following program policies and procedures, responding appropriately to behavioral needs, and providing emergency behavioral intervention when necessary.

Ultimately, you will play an important role in helping each child successfully transition from our care to the care of their family sponsor.

WHO YOU ARE?

You are patient, compassionate, dependable, and comfortable working with children and adolescents in a structured residential environment.

You understand the importance of treating every child with dignity and respect, particularly those who may have experienced significant challenges before and during their migration journey.

You are able to remain calm in challenging situations, communicate effectively with children and coworkers, maintain appropriate boundaries, and work collaboratively as part of a team.

You are also comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment where flexibility, good judgment, and a commitment to safety are essential.

Minimum Qualifications And Competencies
