Job summary

Chicanos Por La Causa, Inc. (CPLC) Corazón is a client-centered, multicultural residential treatment center delivering substance abuse treatment with CARF accreditation. The counselor will provide direct recovery support and coordinate care for clients and families under clinical guidance.

Required: Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling, AZ licensure or eligible within 6 months, and experience in substance abuse treatment. Bilingual abilities are a plus in a diverse setting.

• Experience in substance abuse treatment; residential setting a plus.
• Ability to assess, diagnose and counsel clients.

CPLC Corazón is a client-centered, multicultural center with bilingual staff offering a variety of treatment modalities. We have been providing Substance Abuse treatment through our CARF Accredited Level II Residential Treatment Center since 1983. The 30- to 60-day structured treatment program incorporates best practices targeted to the clients enrolled in the program.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE?

• You will provide general mental health and substance abuse treatment and recovery support in a residential setting.
• You will be responsible for coordinating and providing direct support services for all the clients, and their families in the substance abuse treatment program at Corazon, in partnership with clinical guidance from the Clinical Lead or Program Director.
• You will be the first point of contact for all entities involved in the client’s care.
• You will be the facilitator of client’s informed consent, treatment planning and goals, and discharge planning.

Minimum Qualifications And Competencies

• Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or other related field.
• Licensed by the AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, or ability to become licensed within 6 months of hire.
• Experience working in a substance abuse treatment setting; residential treatment experience a plus.
• Ability to demonstrate experience with providing assessment, diagnosing and counseling.
• Knowledge and understanding of general mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, and serious mental illness.
• Able to work a flexible schedule as needed per program requirements, to include weekends, evenings and holidays.
• Must successfully complete the agency’s orientation and demonstrate competence regarding skills and knowledge per R9-20-204.
• Must be able to pass a drug test upon hire and adhere to the CPLC chemical use policy.
• Must have or obtain within 30 days of hire: CPR/First Aid Certification, CPI certification, AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card, current TB test.
• Bilingual a plus.
• Possess an Arizona Driver’s license, vehicle insurance and ability to be covered under CPLC’s policy.
