Job summary

City of St. Helena is seeking responsible, reliable Recreation Leader I/II to work in a recreation setting with the community. Under supervision, you will assist with camp activities, special events, youth and family programs, and year-round opportunities.

The role emphasizes safety, age-appropriate activities, and positive engagement with participants, staff, and the community, with responsibilities across program support and equipment care.

Qualifications

• Possession of Basic CPR Certificate and First Aid Certificate within 60 days of date of hire.
• Equivalent to the completion of the tenth (10th) grade.
• Experience providing recreation or leisure services is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety and well-being of all participants.
• Works cooperatively with the Recreation Supervisor in planning and leading age-appropriate activities.
• Initiate and maintain a positive rapport with participants, staff, and community.
• Makes every attempt to answer questions and concerns and/or makes appropriate referrals to the Recreation Supervisor.
• Cares for and maintains all equipment and City of St. Helena property. Informs Recreation Supervisor of damaged/unsafe equipment or property immediately.
• Reports serious injuries and accidents immediately. Fills out appropriate injury/incident report and injury log.
• Presents a positive professional atmosphere.
• Follows all Policies and Procedures.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
