Job summary

Youth Villages is seeking a Behavioral Youth Counselor Assistant to join our Tennessee and Georgia residential programs. You will teach life skills, assist in treatment planning, and support youth with daily care and transportation to appointments and activities.

This role requires flexibility for evening and weekend shifts, a high school diploma or GED, and experience with at-risk youth. We offer comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth within an organization dedicated to helping

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with at-risk youth and/or families preferred.
• Experience working with youth required.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written, verbal, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to maintain a flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Teaches youth necessary life skills and provides for their daily physical care.
• Assists in treatment planning for each youth.
• Participates in youth transports to various locations (including but not limited to doctors' appointments, court dates, community outings, home passes, etc.).
• Participates in recreation therapy sessions with their assigned group of youth.
• Helps youth develop and implement positive coping skills using therapeutic interventions.
• Facilitates group therapy sessions to support youth building life skills, social skills, moral reasoning skills, and anger control skills.
• Completes daily documentation (such as contact notes, milieu notes, and precautionary notes) in an electronic medical record system (EMR).
• Performs other duties as assigned.
