Job summary

City of Sunnyvale seeks two Project Assistants for the Sunnyvale Youth Basketball League, with evening and weekend shifts possible. The role is based in the Recreation Building on the Community Center Campus or Columbia Middle School facilities, with travel within Sunnyvale as required.

Primary duties include planning, coordinating, and overseeing recreation programs, delivering excellent customer service, and supporting staff and participants while adhering to department policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• One year of experience working with some type of organized sports programs/leagues or aquatics services.
• At least six months of some lead or supervisory experience in recreation programs or other community-based service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating a community service and/or recreation program.
• Interact with participants, parents, and community members and provide excellent customer service.
• Oversee and schedule the use of facilities, ensuring participants follow established policies and procedures.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; prepare reports, maintain files and records related to the program.
• Operate a computer using word processing and business software and other office equipment.
• Determine and implement the appropriate course of action in emergencies and/or stressful situations.
• Learn the operation, policy and procedures of the Library and Recreation Services Department.
