Note: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30).
Casual Sports Official positions are available for the Sunnyvale Youth Basketball League. This program serves kindergarten through eighth-grade boys and girls. Basketball league games begin on Saturday, January 16, and end on Saturday, March 6; shifts are available between 7:15 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at various Sunnyvale school facilities. Training dates are January 2nd and 9th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; attendance is required. The program is a non-competitive league that encourages everyone to play and learn the game.
The primary assignment for this position is for the seasonal Sunnyvale Youth Basketball League (SYBL).
This position will be mainly based in the Recreation Building on the Community Center Campus, in the Recreation Services Division of the Department of Library and Recreation Services. Travel to other locations within Sunnyvale will be required.

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading reports and work-related documents and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal customer service. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper, books and documents weighing up to 50 pounds is also required. Some duties require incumbents to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:
Work irregular hours or shifts, and on nights, weekends, or holidays when needed.
Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C CA driver's license and a safe driving record OR the ability to supply alternate transportation as approved by the appointing authority.
Any candidate selected by the hiring department will be required to submit proof of their education (i.e., copy of the diploma or college/university transcripts). If the candidate earned a degree from a college or university outside the United States, they must have their education records evaluated by a credential evaluation service.
