Job summary

YMCA OF SOUTHWEST FLORIDA. seeks a Specialty Program Instructor to teach and run the specialty class/program under the guidance of the Program Director. You will plan, organize, and document each lesson, while ensuring a safe, engaging environment for enrolled children.

Responsibilities include preparing for presentations, monitoring safety, maintaining records, and upholding all safety protocols. Strong communication and discipline within policy are required.

Qualifications

• Experience with specialty program offerings and child activities.
• Proven experience working with children in educational or activity settings.
• Interest in the arts and ability to engage kids creatively.
• Ability to follow workplace policies including drug/alcohol/smoke-free rules.
• Maintain confidentiality of participant information.
• Successful completion of required background screenings and checks.
• Adherence to staff safety requirements and cleaning protocols.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, plans, and executes all activities for enrolled children.
• Prepare for special program presentations.
• Monitors the area at all times to ensure safety, and makes changes as necessary.
• Provide a positive environment and encourage participation for growth and development.
• Be a role model; listen with patience and respect for others.
• Instructs and guides participants through program rules; discipline per policy.
• Solve problems and make timely, factual decisions.
• Ensure culturally sensitive service to employees, clients, and volunteers.
• Report incidents to the Program Director and file necessary reports.
• Record daily attendance and maintain accurate records.
• Keep classroom neat, safe, and orderly.
• Develop and maintain age-appropriate activities.
• Ensure supplies are stocked and well maintained.
• Attend scheduled staff meetings.
• Uphold all safety and cleaning protocols throughout the day.
• Perform other duties as required.
