Job summary

YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking a Specialty Program Instructor to lead and document arts-focused specialty classes for enrolled children. Under guidance of the Program Director, you will plan lessons, organize activities, and prepare for special program presentations.

You will ensure safety, foster a positive environment, model appropriate behavior, and maintain accurate records while adhering to YMCA policies and background screening requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in program settings.
• Interest and enthusiasm for arts and youth development.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow workplace policies.
• Willingness to comply with drug/alcohol/smoke-free workplace policies.
• Completing required background checks and screenings as per Florida state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, plans, and executes activities for enrolled children.
• Prepare for special program presentations.
• Monitors safety and makes changes as needed.
• Creates a positive environment and encourages participation.
• Models appropriate behavior and communicates with children with patience and respect.
• Instructs and guides participants through program rules and adheres to guidelines.
• Uses problem solving and timely decision making.
• Reports unusual incidents to the Program Director.
