Job summary

YMCA of Southwest Florida is seeking a Specialty Program Instructor to teach the specialty class/program under the guidance of the Program Director. The instructor will plan, organize, and document each lesson, and create a positive environment that supports growth and development for enrolled children.

The role requires safety awareness, attendance recording, and adherence to all YMCA policies, including background screening and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with specialty program offering.
• Prior experience working with children.
• Enthusiasm for the arts and children.
• Ability to adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy.
• Able to maintain confidentiality.
• State of Florida background check requirements and Level 2 background screening.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, plans, and executes all activities for enrolled children.
• Prepare for special program presentations.
• Monitors the area at all times to ensure safety.
• Provides a positive environment and encourages participation for growth.
• Instructs and guides participants through program rules and safety.
• Maintains records and attends scheduled staff meetings.
• Follows cleaning protocols and safety requirements throughout the day.
