Mercy Home for Boys & Girls seeks a Youth Care Worker to advocate, role model, and coach youth in our residential programs. You will build therapeutic relationships, implement program structure, and support youth in planning and achieving goals while collaborating with the treatment team.

The role involves daily activities, supervision, and participation in team meetings, with pay range and full-time schedule.

Qualifikationen

• At least 21 years of age.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or HS diploma with 5+ years in youth development.
• Demonstrated experience working with youth, ideally with adversity/trauma.
• Valid Illinois driver’s license with ability to drive a van and maintain driving record.
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Flexible schedule to meet program/youth needs.
• Ability to work independently and on interdisciplinary team.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Willingness to create, initiate and participate in recreational and therapeutic activities.
• Commitment to mission and values of Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.

Aufgaben

• Build a therapeutic relationship with youth and their caregiving systems.
• Provide structure of the program with supportive supervision and role modeling.
• Coach youth; teach skills; guide social problem solving; participate in weekly Advocate meetings.
• Assist youth in planning and achieving goals across relevant domains.
• Engage youth in daily routines, set expectations, and provide feedback.
• Develop and support creative interventions incorporating youth strengths.
• Provide individualized services and supports to meet youth needs.
• Refer youth for specialized services with treatment team.
• Collaborate with teams to support youth and participate in supervision.
• Participate in team meetings and supervision with direct supervisor.
• Provide coverage in other programs as needed.
• Maintain program log entries and timely emails.
• Engage in care planning and family meetings; Mercy Model alignment.
• Utilize effective interactional skills and de-escalation as needed.
• Follow CPI protocols; restrain youth when necessary.

Ausbildung

Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

High School diploma with 5 years of experience in youth development
