Young Adult Librarian, Marlborough Public Library (Marlborough)

The Marlborough Public Library has an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Young Adult Library (Head of Teen Services). This role is part of the library supervisor team and supervises 1 staff member along with our summer interns and Teen volunteers. Job responsibilities include overseeing all services the library provides for ages 12-18, management of the Teen Room, collection development for ages 12-18, planning and implementing a wide variety of programming for Teens, managing Teen volunteers and their projects, and providing outreach services to the local schools and other organizations that serve Teens.This person will service as building supervisor on nights and weekends.

Marlborough is a growing small city with a population of 41,000. A lot of new development in town will soon bring in more residents and more families. Marlborough is a diverse community with 33% of the population speaking a language other than English at home.

Union negotiations are finishing up which will likely see a 6% salary increase. The city is also currently finishing up a compensation study.

Qualifications

A successful candidate will be someone who enjoys working with Teens and advocating for their needs. You must be kind, patient, and not afraid to step in when presented with a challenging situation. You will be joining a great team of supervisors who work collaboratively towards improving the library and serving our community.

MLS required with demonstrated successful experience working with Teens in a library setting. Previous management experience desirable. Familiarity with Spanish or Portuguese is highly desirable.
