Job Summary

Performs reprocessing activities including decontamination, sterilization, assembly, case carts, storage, and distribution of medical and surgical supplies and mobile equipment used in patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and transport equipment, supplies, and instruments.
2. Decontaminate a range of reusable patient care equipment and supplies, including surgical instruments and small movable equipment, using appropriate detergents and disinfectants.
3. Handle flexible fiberscopes, TEE Probes, Manometer Probes, Bougies, etc., ensuring proper high-level disinfection.
4. Sterilize instruments, surgical linens, and supplies, including surgical packs and trays, using steam or gas sterilizers or disinfectants.
5. Operate sterilization and decontamination equipment, including ultrasonic washers and rinsers/dryers.
6. Prepare and package supplies and instruments, ensuring proper labeling and sealing.
7. Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes using tracking software.
8. Handle exchange carts and maintain cleanliness of work environment and equipment.
9. Report defective or damaged materials and maintain sterilizer and equipment cleanliness.
10. Perform quality and performance testing on sterilizers and related equipment.
11. Test powered surgical equipment and perform leak tests on endoscopes.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Certification required.
• Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) Certification required.
• Associates Degree in Healthcare or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute.
• Ability to lift over 50 pounds.
• Strong communication skills.
