Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a Facility Housekeeping Technician in Arlington, VA. The role is full‑time and focused on keeping the facility clean and inviting for participants and staff.

You will perform cleaning tasks, assist with event setup, manage cleaning storage areas, and help with laundry as needed. A high school diploma or GED is required, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment (vacuums, buffers, etc.).
• Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of performance.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and mixing proportions.

Responsibilities

• Keeps assigned area clean and clear for all YMCA participants.
• Performs cleaning activities such as sweeping and mopping.
• Assists in set‑up for meetings and/or special events.
• Monitors and maintains cleaning storage rooms, offices, kitchens, and bathrooms.
• Assists with laundry functions as needed.
• Responds to accidents, spills, and other housekeeping emergencies.

About the Job

Are you organized, proactive and have a keen eye for details? Then the facility housekeeping technician position is for you. The YMCA facility housekeeping team set the stage for exceptional service by keeping the Y facility clean and inviting.

Some of the exciting tasks you will do as a Facility Housekeeping Technician include but are not limited to:

• Keeps assigned area clean and clear for all YMCA participants
• Perform a variety of cleaning activities such as sweeping, and mopping
• Assists in set-up for meetings and/or special events
• Monitor and maintain cleaning: storage rooms, offices, kitchen, bathrooms
• Assist with laundry functions as needed
• Respond to accidents, spills, and other housekeeping emergencies
