Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a Senior Program Leader for our Pre-K / Kindergarten program at Middleburg Elementary. The role focuses on creating a positive learning environment for early learners while guiding other staff.

This part-time position offers afternoon/evening hours during the school year, with compensation of $17.00 per hour and benefits including a free Y membership and a 403(b) plan.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience with children ages 3-6 in a licensed or educational setting.
• High school diploma or GED required; CDA or early childhood coursework strongly preferred.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Experience fostering an environment for children of all abilities is valued.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise engaging activities for Pre-K and Kindergarten students.
• Design developmentally appropriate lesson plans and routines.
• Provide mentorship and support to Group Leaders.
• Communicate clearly with families and site leadership.
• Monitor safety, attendance, and behavior.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with children.

Compensation: $17.00 per hour

Schedule: Part-Time | Afternoon/Evening Hours | School Year
