Job summary

MISSOURI VALLEY FAMILY YMCA in BISMARCK, ND is seeking a Junior Chefs Instructor to co-teach a basic culinary arts class for kids aged 6–14, covering nutrition, kitchen safety and cooking at our off-site site at 1701 East Century Avenue.

Evening classes run Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 6:00 pm–7:30 pm, October through April. Candidates must be 16+, value YMCA principles, and prefer childcare or food-service experience.

Qualifications

• YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
• Must be age 16 or older.
• Previous childcare or children's program experience preferred.
• Previous food service or food prep experience preferred.
• Ability to handle competing demands and communicate with participants and parents.

The Junior Chefs Instructor co-teaches a basic culinary arts class that helps children ages 6-10 and 11-14 learn about nutrition, kitchen safety, and cooking. This job is located at our off-site childcare location at 1701 East Century Avenue in Bismarck.

Responsibilities

• Be a role model
• Guide participants through pre-planned activities
• Communicate appropriately with participants and parents
• Assure that children safely participate in food prep, cooking, baking and educational activities
• Assist with set up and clean up before and after the program session

Part Time

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 6:00 pm-7:30 pm

Program Dates October-April

Qualifications

• We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
• Must be age 16 or older.
• Previous experience working in a childcare or children's program preferred.
• Previous food service and/or food prep experience preferred.
• Must have the ability to handle competing demands.
• Must have the ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with participants and parents.
