Job summary

Lumentum seeks an experienced Yield & Quality Engineer to improve yield in ultra-high-power semiconductor laser chip fabrication. You will analyze large datasets, lead root-cause investigations, and work with R&D, process, and manufacturing teams to resolve complex quality issues.

The role requires strong device physics knowledge, DOE experience, and proficiency in JMP/Python/SQL for data mining. A PhD with 5+ years, MS with 8+ years, or BS with 10+ years is expected, with a competitive salary

Qualifications

Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.
Ph.D. with 5+ years, MS with 8+ years, or BS with 10+ years in industry.
Experience in semiconductor lasers, photonics, or compound-semiconductor fabrication.

Responsibilities

Drive yield improvement through analysis of manufacturing, test, and device data.
Identify yield limiters and process excursions via large dataset analysis.
Lead root-cause investigations and CAPA activities with structured problem solving.
Design and execute DOE for process improvements in collaboration with R&D.
Monitor yield, process, and quality metrics to spot trends and excursions.
Participate in 8D, FMEA, SPC, and other quality-improvement activities.
Collaborate with device engineering, wafer fabrication, manufacturing, and QA teams.
Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to management.
