Job summary

Lumentum is seeking a Sr. Principal Product Engineer to lead product engineering within the Global Test organization for high-volume optical components.

You will partner with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations across locations worldwide to drive yield improvements and data-driven decisions. The role requires 15+ years in product or manufacturing engineering, expertise in DOE, CpK, SPC, and data analytics tools, and willingness to travel internationally about once per quarter.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in product, test, or manufacturing engineering.
• Strong experience with large-scale data analytics and statistical analysis.
• Hands-on experience with high-volume optical-component manufacturing and testing.
• Proven yield-improvement, test-time reduction, and ramp-up experience.
• Experience with DOE, Cpk, SPC, Gauge R&R, correlation analysis, and failure analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership across cultures.

Responsibilities

• Lead product engineering activities for high-volume optical components.
• Develop yield-improvement strategies using NPI and production data.
• Drive improvements across design, manufacturing, test methods, and operations.
• Establish product and production-test specifications, test coverage, and stage-gate criteria.
• Analyze NPI and production data to evaluate yield and CpK performance.
• Lead test-time reduction, test-coverage optimization, and failure-analysis activities.
• Mentor engineers across global product and test teams.
