Job summary

Lumentum is seeking an experienced Sr. Principal Product Engineer to lead product engineering within Global Test for high-volume optical components. You will work with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations across locations worldwide, driving yield improvements and test-optimization initiatives.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience in optical-component production, data analytics, and cross-functional leadership, with international travel approximately quarterly.

Qualifications

• Fifteen or more years of experience in product/ test/ manufacturing engineering or related field.
• Strong experience with large-scale data analytics and statistical analysis.
• Experience with data querying and data manipulation tools (e.g., JMP, SQL, MES).
• Hands-on experience with high-volume optical-component manufacturing and testing.
• Proven track record in yield improvement and manufacturing-process optimization.
• Experience with DOE, Cpk, SPC, Gauge R&R, correlation analysis, and failure analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication across cultures and geographies.

Responsibilities

• Lead product engineering activities for high-volume optical components with cross-functional teams.
• Develop and execute yield-improvement strategies using data from NPIs and production.
• Drive improvements across design, processes, test methods, and operations.
• Establish product and production-test specifications and test coverage.
• Analyze NPIs and production data to evaluate yield and performance metrics.
• Lead test-time reduction and optimization efforts.
• Support Test Engineering to identify and fix test-system issues during bring-up.
