About Yelp

As an Inside Sales Representative (ISR), you'll work directly with local businesses to help them achieve their goals through Yelp's advertising programs. You will contact small business owners via phone to understand their needs and tailor sales strategies accordingly. Our success is measured by how well our clients grow their businesses.

Your main responsibility is to educate business owners about Yelp's advertising value. You will be responsible for selling advertising space on Yelp to local businesses across the US and Canada. Success metrics include meeting and exceeding monthly sales goals, maintaining daily activity levels, and handling rejection positively. This role offers the flexibility of remote work within a supportive virtual team environment.

What You'll Do

  • Educate, strategize, and sell Yelp advertising programs via high-volume outbound calls — this is a 100% phone-based role.
  • Reach as many businesses as possible, working one of the following schedules (in your local time): 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., or 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Manage a pipeline of clients in our CRM (Salesforce), including industries like dental, floral, and restaurant businesses.
  • Work remotely from home, following a set Monday to Friday schedule.
  • Become an expert in Yelp's advertising solutions, adapt product recommendations, ask probing questions, and overcome objections.
  • Achieve and exceed monthly sales goals through strong work ethic and persistence.
  • Stay organized and manage your time effectively to meet daily goals, understanding that sales involve consistent effort and numbers game skills.

Requirements

  • GED/HS Diploma with 2+ years of customer-facing experience OR a Bachelor's Degree.
  • No fear of making phone calls.
  • Proficiency with computers and email — familiarity with Google Suite and provided Macbook required.
  • A distraction-free work environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently without supervision.
  • Legal authorization to work in the US.

Training and Development

  • Two-month comprehensive initial training plus ongoing development through the Yelp Sales Development Program.
  • Learn advanced communication and sales techniques, Salesforce CRM, and internet advertising for SMBs.
  • Opportunities for career growth with clear performance benchmarks, with potential increases in pay, title, and responsibilities as you progress.

Compensation and Benefits

  • First-year earnings range from $50k-$65k, combining base salary and uncapped commissions.
  • Year 2 on-target earnings around $70k, with top performers earning approximately $112k.
  • Starting base salary of $37k plus uncapped commissions.
  • Full medical, vision, and dental coverage available from day one.
  • 15 days PTO in the first two years, increasing thereafter, plus wellness days, holidays, and a floating holiday.
  • Up to 14 weeks parental leave.
