Job summary

Washington County Public Schools in Maryland is seeking a Grounds Crew Member for the Center for Education Services. This full‑time, year‑round position maintains exterior surfaces, landscaping, turf, athletic facilities, drainage, and snow removal, reporting to the Facilities Operations Manager.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and experience with tractors and large mowers. MD CDL license is preferred. 8 hours/day, 12‑month year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience operating tractors, large mowers, and snow plow equipment.
• Valid driver's license without court restrictions.
• Ability to work extended days including evenings and weekends as needed (snow plowing).
• Ability to work in all weather conditions with PPE.
• Regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain exterior grounds, landscaping, turf, and athletic complexes.
• Perform duties such as mowing, edging, trimming, mulching, planting, snow removal, and debris cleanup.
• Operate hand tools and power equipment.
• Operate plow truck and salt spreading equipment during snow events.
• Transport materials and equipment to school locations using pickups and trailers.
• Serve as custodian as needed; follow emergency procedures.
