Job summary

OCC offers a Year-Round Internship in Chicago, designed for rising seniors or early graduate students. The role focuses on data platform development, cloud-based data processing, and collaboration across teams. Interns balance academic commitments with real-world projects in a hybrid setting.

Interns work up to 20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours in summer, with a 1,000-hour cap. The program emphasizes learning, critical thinking, and practical contribution to OCC's data

Qualifications

• Knowledge of SQL and data analytics; Python and/or Java programming skills.
• Foundational understanding of distributed systems concepts and event-driven architecture.
• Hands-on cloud experience, preferably AWS (S3, IAM, EC2).
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and teamwork.
• Openness to AI-assisted engineering workflows and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Work with Data Platform Core and Data Services teams on cloud-based data processing and data access capabilities.
• Collaborate on planning, documenting requirements, writing SQL code, and troubleshooting issues.
• Learn new tools and technologies; participate in sprint reviews and deliverables.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate feature development and maintain good engineering practices.
• Collaborate with business users and technical teams to understand data needs and enable access for analysts.
