Job summary

OCC’s Year‑Round Internship Program offers a 12‑month opportunity based in Chicago, with up to 1,000 hours across 2027. Interns work 20 hours weekly during the school year and up to 40 hours weekly in summer, in a hybrid environment. The role supports Cloud Engineering, security guardrails, and cost controls automation.

You will contribute to real projects, learn policy‑as‑code techniques, and gain hands-on experience in cloud security and FinOps within OCC’s culture of learning and innovation.

Qualifications

• Coursework or project experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Exposure to scripting (Python).
• Familiarity with basic security or cost management concepts.
• Exposure to Terraform/IaC or policy-as-code tools is a plus.
• Experience with Claude code is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building/enhancing platform engineering cloud security guardrails.
• Develop Open Policy Agent (OPA) policies for security guardrail checks.
• Support FinOps dashboards and automation for cloud cost avoidance and reduction.
• Collaborate with the team on real backlog items and remediation tooling.
