Job summary

New Horizons Baking Company in Ohio seeks a skilled driver/warehouse associate to operate Class 8 semi-tractor and yard spotter, load/unload trailers, and occasionally pick up or deliver products. This full-time role requires compliance with DOT rules, ability to pass drug and alcohol tests, and manual lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid CDL- Class B (minimum)
• Must hold a valid DOT Medical Card
• Must be able to pass a DOT pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Must be able to pass DOT random drug and alcohol test

Responsibilities

• Prepares equipment, attachments in and around the facility.
• Operates heavy equipment to load/unload units from trailers.
• Staging and moving trailers for loads.
• Pickup or delivery of product or ingredients when needed.
• Maintains organized equipment inventory staging areas.
• Load and secure parts, equipment for delivery.
• Unload equipment and accessories.
• Assist with shipments for facility operations.
• Prepare daily paperwork and record all pertinent information.
• Inspect trailers and docks for cleanliness and damage.

Job Summary and Responsibilities:

• Prepares equipment, equipment attachments in, out, and around New Horizons Baking Company Facility.
• Skilled in operating heavy equipment to load and unload units from equipment hauling trailers and around property as necessary for safe transportation.
• Will be responsible for staging and/or moving trailers for loads.
• At times will be responsible for pick-up or delivery of New Horizons Baking Company product and/or ingredients.
• Maintains organized equipment inventory staging areas.
• Load and secure parts, equipment and/or accessories for delivery.
• Unload equipment and accessories.
• Assist with or prepare shipments for other facility operations as needed.
• Prepare daily paperwork and put up orders as needed. Receives all finished product, raw material and packaging, and records all pertinent information onto paperwork or other logs as required.
• Inspect trailers and docks for cleanliness and damage.

Safety:

• Know and follow all Company and customer safety rules, including maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, fully participating in Company accident prevention and safety improvement activities.
• Must have the physical ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including protective glasses, protective gloves, and protective clothing and footwear as required by the job.
• Follows and enforces programs and procedures outlined in the Food Safety and Quality Manual to support compliance with the GFSI Global Standard for Food Safety and other third party audits.

Requirements:

Abilities Required:

• Must be able to safely operate a Class 8 semi-tractor, Ottawa Yard Spotter and Semi-trailers safely.
• Must be able to communicate efficiently with dock personnel to safely move/dock semi-trailers at specified dock doors for loading/unloading.
• Must be able to safely remove and dock semi-trailers at the yard waste station on the New Horizons Baking Company facility.
• Able to follow written and verbal instructions, work safely, climb ladders necessary for railcar or silo inspection, and to lift up to 50 pounds in a safe manner.
• Forklift certification preferred but not required.
• Must be comfortable working in hot and cold work areas
