Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Experience as yard goat driver or similar role preferred.
• Familiarity with warehouse and transportation operations.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Yard truck operation certification (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Safely move trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and yard locations.
• Ensure trailers are correctly aligned for loading and unloading.
• Follow safety protocols and company policies, including PPE and DOT regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard gooseneck vehicles and report issues.
• Maintain records of trailer movements using yard management systems or logs.
• Coordinate with warehouse staff, forklift operators, and dispatch for timely trailer availability.
• Perform routine maintenance checks and basic troubleshooting of the yard truck.
• Report maintenance needs or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.
• Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, drivers, and supervisors.
