Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a dedicated Switcher/Package Handler to manage yard trailer movements and package handling at our facility in Indiana. You will hook and move trailers between yard and doors, coordinate with control, and document activities using the Yard Management System or switcher cards.

Role requires the ability to read labels, sort packages, perform pre/post-trip inspections, and operate scanners and dock equipment. Prior experience is welcome but not required.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver's license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow safety instructions.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages correctly.
• Ability to use basic tools and equipment like scanners, carts, and unloading devices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced team environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform trailer switches by hooking and moving trailers between yard and doors.
• Coordinate trailer movements with management or control.
• Document trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Adhere to yard switching safety processes; may perform Package Handler duties as needed.
• Load and unload packages onto and from vehicles and conveyors.
• Sort packages by reading labels and numbers; operate related systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
