Job summary

Hirschbach Motor Lines, LLC is seeking a Yard Specialist to inspect equipment, coordinate repairs, and maintain an efficient yard ready for the road. You will document repair estimates and work with external vendors to handle tasks outside the shop scope.

The role emphasizes physical work outdoors, with 3–5 years of Class 8 equipment experience or equivalent military background, and a CDL Class A is preferred. Join a team focused on reliability and safety in fleet operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3–5 years of experience in transportation, fleet maintenance, or related field (or equivalent military experience).
• Valid driver's license; CDL A preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and meet physical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine yard inspections to identify damaged or inoperable tractors and trailers.
• Create repair orders and document repair estimates for equipment needing maintenance.
• Coordinate with external vendors by submitting repair requests for work beyond shop scope.
• Perform minor repairs, including replacing tires, lights, mud flaps and other basics.
• Maintain a safe, organized yard and ensure equipment is properly positioned and parked.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

As a Yard Specialist, you'll:

You'll excel here if you bring:
Required

• High school diploma or GED required
• 3-5 years of experience in the transportation, fleet maintenance, or related industry
  • OR equivalent military experience
• Valid driver's license, CDL A preferred
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and perform the physical requirements of the role

Nice to Have

• Certifications (EPA 609, Cummins, Navistar, Daimler)
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools (Cummins Insite, DTNA, Bendix, etc.)
