Job summary

Port Houston is seeking a Yard Planner to coordinate and optimize yard operations, vessel loading/unloading, and cargo flow across container and breakbulk terminals. The role includes building allocations, forecasting cargo projections, and troubleshooting yard stowage issues to meet industry demands.

You will participate in inter-terminal moves, supervise terminal vessel operations, and maintain strong relationships with stevedoring partners.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Administration, Business Administration, or related field; or 5+ years of related experience.
1+ years of related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead yard planning efforts for operations in container/breakbulk terminals.
Coordinate crane operators for container loading/unloading efficiency.
Work with stevedores to optimize yard stowage strategies.
Coordinate truck movements to ensure optimal terminal flow.
Segregate hazardous cargo per US Coast Guard standards and specs.
Monitor exports, imports, and empty allocations for terminals.
Assist with inter-terminal movements in pads and vessel ops rotation.
Set up vessel operations plans and maintain relationships with stevedoring industry.
