Job summary

Port Houston is seeking a Yard Planner to optimize yard operations for efficient vessel loading/unloading and cargo flow across container and breakbulk terminals. You will build and maintain allocations, forecast cargo projections, and troubleshoot yard stowage issues to meet industry needs.

Responsibilities include coordinating crane operators, working with stevedores, and ensuring correct empty equipment is loaded.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Maritime Admin, Business, or related field.
• 5+ years of directly related experience in a similar role; 1+ year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead yard planning efforts for operations.
• Coordinate with crane operators to expedite container movement.
• Collaborate with stevedores to optimize yard stowage strategies.
• Coordinate truck movements to maintain terminal traffic flow.
• Segregate hazardous cargo per US Coast Guard standards.
• Monitor exports, imports, and empty allocations for container terminals.
• Assist with inter-terminal moves in the pads.
• Set up vessel operations plans and supervise yard/ vessel rotations.
