Job summary

Estes Express Lines is seeking a dockworker to safely handle and maneuver trailers and equipment in the yard. The role includes pre/post shift inspections, loading/unloading freight with forklift, pallet jack, or hand trucks, and securing loads to prevent damage in transit.

You will operate gear like 7500 lb forklifts, push/pull pallets, and assist with trailer hookups while maintaining safety standards and meeting tight schedules in outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Must be 17+ years of age.
• CDL if driving on public roads; FMCSA Clearinghouse for CDL holders.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractor/trailers and other large equipment in the yard.
• Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of yard and dock equipment.
• Cube, load and unload freight using forklift, pallet jack, hand truck or by hand.
• Load freight to prevent damage using blocks, braces, straps and dunnage.
• Set up, break down and hook trailers safely.
• Ensure pup trailers have tilt bars lowered prior to loading.
• Raise and lower landing gear.
• Monitor yard for unsafe drivers and non-employees; notify management.
• Work in outdoor weather conditions.
• Communicate effectively with Dock supervision, Line Haul drivers and Fleet Services.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet safety and operational needs.
