Job summary

Gerdau North America is seeking a Yard Operator to support scrap handling, grading, and material movements. The role involves operating cranes or loaders, ensuring quality and safety in daily tasks, and coordinating with supervisors and customers to meet shipping requirements.

The incumbent will perform routine equipment care, assist in nonferrous processing, and uphold Gerdau's safety and environmental standards while delivering excellent service.

Responsibilities

• Follow all Gerdau Safety, Environmental, and Routine procedures specific to the yard.
• Operate the loader and/or the material handler to load/unload scrap material.
• Inspect and verify scrap for grade and quality, communicate findings with the scale.
• Ensure outbound materials meet safety and quality standards.
• Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care (REC).
• Assist maintenance personnel in equipment repairs as required.
• Stage and remove material for torching with a material handler (where applicable).
• Assist in nonferrous processing (e.g., copper, brass, aluminum).
• Provide excellent customer service and support daily operations.
