Job summary

Estes-Express-Lines is seeking a dependable Dock/Forklift Operator to safely move trailers and freight within our yard. You will perform pre/post-shift inspections, load and unload using forklifts and pallet jacks, and secure cargo to prevent damage.

The role requires lifting, standing, and working outdoors in various weather conditions. Responsibilities include coordinating with Dock supervision, Line Haul drivers and Fleet Services, and maintaining a strong safety record.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent background.
• Must be 17+ years of age.
• CDL and acceptable MVR required if driving on public roads.
• If CDL holder, must be registered with FMCSA Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.
• Experience in transportation is a plus though not required.
• Stable work history.
• Ability to operate forklift (7500 lb).
• Must be able to push/pull loaded pallet jack and/or hand truck with 70 lbs.
• Physical abilities include standing, lifting, twisting, climbing a ladder, etc.
• Night/weekend shifts may be required.
• Must be able to lift 70 lbs. or more.
• Must comply with policies and work with others.
• Must work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractors, trailers and equipment for loading/unloading.
• Perform pre- and post-shift inspections of yard/dock equipment.
• Load/unload freight using forklift, pallet jack, hand truck or by hand.
• Secure freight with blocking, bracing, straps and dunnage to prevent damage.
• Set up, break down and hook trailers safely.
• Ensure pup trailers have tilt bars lowered before loading.
• Raise and lower landing gear.
• Monitor yard for unsafe drivers and notify management.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Communicate with Dock supervision and Fleet Services.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
