Job summary

Abbeville Fiber, LLC seeks a materials handler to move and transport trailers and ensure readiness for loading and unloading. The role may involve operating an industrial forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, and move products and materials with attention to safety and efficiency.

This safety-sensitive position requires careful handling of equipment and adherence to workplace rules. You will help in housekeeping, staging materials, and ensuring smooth production flow on the floor.

Responsibilities

• Operate machinery including forklift as needed
• Move trailers into specific locations for loading and unloading
• Moves levers and presses pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
• Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials and transports load to designated area.
• Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device.
• Inventories materials on work floor, and supplies workers with materials as needed.
• Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
• Unloads material from commercial truck flatbed trailers, stages material in the white yard inventory, and loads product onto tram for processing.
• Monitors trams and production of cylinders to ensure efficient flow of material through equipment.
• Lubricates truck, recharges batteries, and fills fuel tank.
• Assists in housekeeping and clean-up activities as needed.
• Assists in picking up lumber and other materials due to spills.
• Keeps material stacked evenly, safely and in an organized manner.
