Job summary

Amtrak in New York seeks an experienced Yardmaster to lead yard operations, supervise crews, and coordinate train movements within the assigned territory. You will work with the Mechanical Department and CNOC to set up equipment for daily service and ensure crews report on time.

You will hold GCOR rules qualifications, a high school diploma, and prefer an associate degree in transportation. Strong communication and safety focus are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• Must be qualified on GCOR Operating Rules, Air Brake, train handling (AMT-3), and Safety Instruction for T&E (AMT-5).
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Yardmasters within assigned territory will be in charge of the yard, employees, movements of trains, and distribution/movement of cars therein, except on main tracks and controlled sidings.
• Coordinate the setup of equipment for daily service with local Mechanical Department, and CNOC.
• Ensure crews report for duty and trains are made up and dispatched at the times prescribed.
