Job summary

Carlile Transportation is seeking a yard supervisor in Anchorage to lead the Yard crew, ensuring safety and efficient freight movement. You will supervise operations, enforce HSSE policies, and coordinate with other departments to keep daily workflows running smoothly.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least five years of yard experience, including three years in transportation. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five years previous Yard experience, at least three years in the transportation industry.

Responsibilities

• Operate safely and in compliance with HSSE policies.
• Ensures compliance with DOT regulations, company policy, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
• Ensures safe and accurate loading, securement and labeling of customer freight.
• Oversees yard traffic and appointment scheduling.
• Schedules yard labor, approves timesheets and PTO requests.
• Administer performance reviews, disciplinary meetings and actions in coordination with Human Resources.
• Manages the growth and success of the team by providing guidance and direction, mentoring, professional development and training.
• Maintain open and effective communication with other departments and managers, proactively mitigating issues and concerns.
• Field incoming calls and emails, responding appropriately and timely to internal/external customer inquiries.
• Ensures equipment is well maintained and in good working order.
• Perform other duties as assigned
