Job summary

Hawthorne Cat is seeking a Yard Associate to efficiently receive, release, and organize machines and attachments within the equipment yard in San Diego. You will be the primary contact for customers and haulers, ensuring smooth check-in and check-out while maintaining accurate inventory.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, a CA Class C license, forklift/scissor lift certification within 30 days, and strong computer/app skills.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Must have a valid California Class "C" Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Must be able to be Forklift and Scissor Lift Certified within 30 days of employment.
• Able to demonstrate high proficiency in computer/phone applications.
• Must have a mobile phone that can upload appliable apps and ability to take pictures.
• Excellent communication ability and high level of customer relation skills.
• Ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Receive, release, and organize machines and attachments in the yard.
• Serve as primary contact for customers and haulers entering the facility.
• Maintain accurate inventory and ensure smooth check-in/check-out.
• Fuel equipment and perform inspections on request.
• Prepare equipment for sales/demo and staging.
• Wash equipment and decals, install/remove decals/plates.
• Communicate inbound equipment statuses to aid invoicing.
• Assist sales by conveying Hawthorne safety practices to customers.
• Assist with unloading and hitching equipment.
• Learn to operate equipment safely in the yard.
• Contribute to team effort and safe work environment.
• Operate CAT Inspect or other digital inspection programs.
