Tyson Foods, Inc. in Fort Smith, AR is seeking a Yard Driver to back trailers to docks and move equipment as part of the dock operations. The role runs on the 2nd shift, 2:00pm–12:00am, with potential Saturday work, and starting pay includes a shift premium.

Candidates must have at least 1 year of yard truck experience, 6 months of recent work history, a valid driver's license, and no DUI in the last year; excellent safety awareness and ability to work in extreme temperatures are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 6 months continuous work history within the past 2 years.
• Minimum 1 year experience using a tractor-trailer to back trailers to and from loading and unloading docks.
• Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver's license and no DUI/DWI in the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Back trailers into and out of docks using yard trucks.
• Operate yard trucks safely and in line with Tyson policies.
• Set reefers, verify units start, and secure trailers.
• Pre-shift inspections, maintain shuttle truck cleanliness, and report issues.
• Communicate with drivers and maintenance as required.
• Perform lot checks and refuel reefers/yard trucks as needed.

Starting Pay $21.50/hr plus $2.00 shift premium

M-F 2:00pm -12:00 am with occasional Saturdays

Yard Driver DB01

This position is responsible for backing in and removing trailers from the Dock. The Yard Driver backs in trailers for loading/ unloading as required. Trailers are also backed into Americold for loading.This position is responsible for operating yard trucks and moving trailer in and out of loading areas while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Must operate yard truck in a safe manner at all times by following all safety procedures; Move correct trailer from yard to door and door to yard.

Communicate with drivers in a respect manner; Set reefer units at appropriate settings; Check to see if reefer units will start; Communicate with operations and follow instructions; Safely secure trailers; Report any fuel or oil leaks to maintenance; Will be responsible for the cleanliness of the shuttle truck; Will do pre-inspection for safety and mechanical defects on shuttle truck at beginning of shift; Lot checks as requested by management; refuel reefers and/ or yard trucks as needed; Other Duties as Assigned.

Must be willing to tolerate extreme cold and extreme heat (9-12 hours per day)

Must be willing to bend at waist and knees on a repetitive basis (9-12 hours per day) Must be willing to twist and turn (9-12 hours per day) Must be willing to climb in and out of truck cab on a continual basis (9-12 hours per day) Must be willing to walk a great deal (9-12 hours per day) Must have a clean safety record obtained through MVR clearance.

Rehire Criteria:

• Former Tyson Team Members must be separated from the company for a minimum of 180 calendar days.
• Also, if you have worked at Tyson 3 times or more you will not be eligible for rehire.
