Job summary

McGrath RentCorp in Concord, CA is seeking a hands-on yard worker. Responsibilities include organizing containers with a forklift, routine cleaning and repair, and supporting on-site field service calls.

The role requires mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform light welding and electrical tasks as part of container maintenance. You will manage inventory, ensure quality control, and handle basic HVAC tasks for office units.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years experience in a construction yard work environment.
• Forklift experience is required.
• Basic computer experience for inventory and records.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience repairing containers, trailers, and trash bins.

Responsibilities

• Yard organization using forklift to organize containers by size and state of repair.
• Cleaning, painting and basic repair/upkeep of containers in the yard.
• Support customers with on-site field service calls.
• Light welding and electrical work, rewiring, switches and outlets; power washing; carpentry and painting.
• Manage container inventory and ensure stock is available at the yard.
• Inspect, repair and maintain various container types.
• Perform basic AC service for office units including filters and thermostat changes.
• Ensure building materials inventory levels for repairs.
• Receive or load assets with third party vendors and report to Ops Coordinator.
• Maintain forklift inbound/outbound logs and move inventory.
• Work outdoors in variable weather; lift up to 50 pounds; follow safety guidelines.
• Possess initiative with minimal supervision and participate in safety meetings.
