Job summary

McGrath RentCorp is seeking a hands-on Yard/Maintenance Associate for our New Jersey operations. You will maintain container inventory, operate forklifts, perform basic welding and electrical tasks, and ensure safety and quality in yard activities.

The role requires independent work, physical stamina, and the ability to handle varied weather conditions, with opportunities to contribute to continuous improvement in yard processes.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of construction yard experience.
• Basic computer skills.
• Strong mechanical aptitude; repairs on containers, vans and metal waste bins.
• Yard experience with paperwork, inventory, carpentry and basic electrical tasks; light welding and AC troubleshooting.
• Ability to work independently and safely.
• High-energy, can-do attitude with integrity.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain forklift in/out logs and inventory reports.
• Organize yard for containers by size and condition.
• Perform basic AC service and electrical work (filters, thermostat, coil cleaning).
• Ensure assets leaving the yard are prepared and quality checked.
• Receive/load assets to/from vendors; report activities to Ops Coordinator.
• Support service calls when possible.
• Bi-yearly inventory responsibility.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
