Job summary

Qellus is seeking an OpenText ECM Engineer to design, configure, and manage an Extended ECM platform tailored for engineering workflows. You will collaborate with engineers across functions and act as the bridge to OpenText support, ensuring robust, scalable solutions.

The role is US Remote with availability 9am–5pm EST on US business days, and a 6-month contract. Strong expertise in OpenText, enterprise architecture, and security is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years with OpenText ECM solutions including Content Server and Extended ECM (xECM).
• 3+ years in engineering document management or asset lifecycle processes.
• Experience with authentication and SSO integrations (LDAP, AD, SAML).
• OpenText certifications are a plus.

Summary/Objective:

The OpenText Extended ECM for Engineering Consultant will be responsible for designing, configuring, and managing a OpenText Extended ECM platform tailored for engineering stateflows with a heavy focus on the ECN/FCN process. This role will collaborate directly with engineers across many functional areas and serve as the primary liaison between the engineering team and the OpenText support team. The ideal candidate is a technical expert in OpenText solutions with a strong understanding of engineering processes and enterprise architecture. While this is a remote position, it is required that the candidate be fully available between 9am and 5pm EST on all US working days. Also, the candidate must be able to pass Federal background checks as required by NERC/FERC regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Solution Design: Architect and implement OpenText Extended ECM for Engineering solutions to support engineering document management, project execution, and asset lifecycle processes.
• Workflow/ Stateflow Optimization: Design and configure state-based workflows to automate document reviews, approvals, and change management processes.
• Technical Leadership: Provide expertise on content repository setup, metadata management, security frameworks, and scalability to meet business needs.
• Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to enable secure collaboration between internal engineering teams and external partners via Business Workspaces and secure file-sharing tools.
• Performance Monitoring: Leverage dashboards and analytics to monitor system performance, workflow efficiency, and project progress, recommending improvements as needed.
• Documentation & Training: Develop technical documentation and provide training to end-users and IT teams on system capabilities and best practices.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

Experience:

• 8–12+ years of experience supporting enterprise ECM platforms.
• 5+ years of hands‑on OpenText Content Server AMS/support experience.
• Experience working in AMS or managed services environments with ticketing systems and SLAs.
• Experience supporting OpenText Extended ECM (xECM) or SAP‑integrated environments.
• Experience supporting OpenText Archive Center, Core Capture, or VIM.
• Knowledge of authentication/SSO integrations (LDAP, AD, SAML).
• OpenText certifications are a plus.

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience with OpenText ECM solutions, including Content Server and Extended ECM. Must have experience with xECM for Engineering version 22 or higher.
• 3+ years working with engineering document management or asset lifecycle processes.
• Expertise in OpenText Content Server architecture, including repository configuration, workflow design, and Smart UI customization.
• Proficiency with Web Reports for custom development and reporting.

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders. This will be a client facing position that interacts with Engineers, Managers, and Directors daily.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• OpenText certifications (e.g., OpenText Content Server Administrator, Extended ECM Specialist).
• Background in industries such as energy, manufacturing, or construction.
• Knowledge of security standards (e.g., TLS/SSL, AES-256) and compliance frameworks.
• Experience with Azure DevOps and Scaled Agile processes.
