The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality radiographs following CityMD X-ray protocols, procedures, and Department of Health regulatory compliance in an efficient and accurate manner.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
- Perform common X-ray studies: Chest, Extremity, Spinal, and Abdomen X-ray
- Document X-ray studies properly and facilitate communication between the Provider and Radiologist using internal X-ray and care coordination software
- Maintain accurate records in QC log books, including pregnancy consent forms, daily checklists, patient logs, and rejection reports to ensure compliance with the Department of Health
- Troubleshoot equipment and software malfunctions; inform Site and X-Ray Managers when service is needed
- Assist with patient flow and communicate effectively using the flag system among clinical staff
- Perform vital signs and document results in the EMR
- Assist with CLIA-waived tests, EKGs, splints, sling placement, and proper use of crutches
- Maintain cleanliness of the site, including waiting rooms, exam rooms, labs, work areas, X-ray suite, and break room
- Provide exceptional patient care, safety, and promote best practices to enhance healthcare culture
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited X-Ray Technologist program
- Strong communication skills for clear instructions to patients
- Ability to perform basic X-rays and interpret provider instructions accurately; position patients and adjust equipment to set exposure factors; use beam-restrictive devices and shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure (ALARA principle)
- Flexibility to work full-time, including weekends
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, problem-solving, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Proficiency with computer systems
- Positive attitude, creativity, and commitment to building healthy working relationships
- Bilingual skills preferred or required based on site location
Physical Requirements
The role may involve lifting light to moderate weights (e.g., supplies) and extensive computer use.
