Job Description

Radiology Technologist, Full-Time Evening Shift

As a Radiology Technologist, you will perform diagnostic imaging studies as assigned, utilize appropriate principles of radiation protection, exercise professional judgment in the performance of imaging procedures, and be responsible for providing care to patients in your charge.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Review physician’s order to assure appropriateness of examination being requested.
2. Select appropriate exposure factors based on body part, pathology, patient's age, and technical equipment characteristics.
3. Review images for proper positioning, technique, and identification.
4. Perform a variety of general diagnostic studies efficiently and with high standards of quality, ensuring the proper protocol is used and evaluating images for diagnostic quality prior to submission.
5. Prepare contrast media for administration to patients and assist physicians in GI/GU studies.
6. Interface with customers, patients, family members, medical staff, and visitors in a friendly, professional manner, demonstrating the use of AIDET principles and flexibility to accommodate special needs.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in a related medical field or equivalent experience
• Completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA-approved program
• Certification by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists
• Licensure by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
• Proficiency in performing diagnostic imaging
• Proficiency with technical equipment in diagnostic modality
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• Good decision-making and judgment skills
• Maintain required continuing education as mandated by ARRT
• Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, computers, and software relevant to UCMC and radiology department
• CPR certification
